POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a seasoned and motivated Estimator to join our growing preconstruction team in Orlando, FL. This role involves preparing cost estimates, analyzing blueprints, developing bid strategies, and presenting to owners and architects to ensure competitive, comprehensive bids. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pre-Award Management:
  • Conduct jobsite visits to assess construction methods, conditions, and develop a competitive bid approach.
  • Perform quantity take-offs utilizing PlanSwift, Destini, and similar estimating software.
  • Solicit and review proposals from subcontractors and vendors.
  • Organize and conduct pre-bid meetings and site walkthroughs with subcontractors.
  • Review and select subcontractor/vendor proposals for incorporation into bid proposals.
Planning and Coordination:
  • Develop and implement bid strategies for various project types, including Lump Sum, Construction Management, and Design Build.
  • Create budgets, estimates, and proposals from different levels of design documents: Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction/Permit Documents.
  • Establish Constructability and Value Engineering strategies to maintain project budgets and goals.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, design consultants, subcontractors, owner representatives, and team members to address preconstruction issues.
Pre-Bid and Meeting Coordination:
  • Lead presentations to owners and architects, ensuring clarity and alignment on project expectations.
  • Organize and lead all pre-bid subcontractor meetings and walkthroughs.
  • Conduct pre-bid meetings with project stakeholders, establishing points of contact and bid processes.
  • Lead Project Hand-off Meeting with Project Management to ensure a smooth transfer of project details from Preconstruction to Operations.
 
  • Understands his/her contribution to achieving the five-year strategic plan and the annual plan.
  • Understands and operates under the company’s SOP’s at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5-15 years of estimating experience in the construction industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Previous experience with Hard Bid, Construction Management, and Design Build projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and experience with PlanSwift, Destini or similar estimating software.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for collaboration with clients, architects, project teams, and subcontractors.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring accurate and thorough cost estimates.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop bid strategies and present estimates to owners, architects, and other stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving abilities to anticipate potential challenges in preconstruction and develop solutions.
  • Competence in managing budgets and analyzing financial data to create cost-effective proposals.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and ethics throughout the preconstruction process.
